A non-profit organization called “One Day on Earth” approached the Friends of Park 101 to participate in a city-wide, media-creation event happening in Los Angeles on April 26. They are known for putting together motion-picture documentaries that feature the world and its people in a grassroots effort by international filmmakers. (Their latest documentary is available on Netflix.) This year, they want to feature Los Angeles, one of 11 other cities, and use film to help answer the question “What is the future of LA?”
Park 101 is one of the many compelling futures of LA and we’d like to garner support from the community to help us tell this story. This is an opportunity for film artists to help us capture footage along the proposed site of Park 101, upload it to the One Day on Earth website, and have the opportunity to get their footage featured in the One Day in LA documentary.
We are looking to film on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26. In the footage that is captured, we’d like to raise awareness of the Park 101 effort. We are organizing a team of supporters to walk the streets around the 101 Freeway (by the El Pueblo District), interview passerbys, and stress the importance and need for more public open space, pedestrian-friendly environments, LA’s original historic district, and a more connected Downtown.
